After a successful commissioning of Two Rivers mall in Nairobi, Kenya recently, the developers of the largest mall in Africa outside of South Africa have embarked on the second phase to crown the mixed-use development.

Two Rivers’ phase two comprises a five-star hotel backed by a total of 108 apartments. According to the developer, Two Rivers Lifestyle Company Ltd, construction of the second phase will commence before mid this year and will be ready for occupation by 2018. The apartments are estimated to cost sh.3.8bn and will be a combo of post-modern and current trends of living as phase two of the sh.25bn colossal project gets underway.

Two Rivers mall is located along Limuru road and is neighbored by the affluent Runda, Muthaiga, Nyali and Gigiri. It is the biggest shopping complex in Kenya amassing 62,000 square meters, flooring Garden City Mall that occupies 50,000 square meters and was its main local competitor.

China Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation (CATIC) is the project’s main contractor combining workmanship with several other local contractors. French retailer Carrefour is the mall’s anchor tenant flanked by a litany of other globally known brands like Turkish clothing line LC Waikiki, Nike, Virgin Active, The Designers Studio, Swarovski and Nove Coffee Roaster.

It creates employment opportunities and is designed to offer world-class shopping experience and hopefully to stop people from going to foreign countries for shopping,” said Chris Kirubi, Centum Chairman.
